"Singer" is a striking wooden sculpture created from a collection of cast-off materials, including parts from musical instruments, weaving looms, printing blocks, chair spindles, and even an old breadboard. As the piece took shape, it seemed to rise effortlessly, like a feather catching the breeze, transforming into a figure that exudes energy and movement. Old textile printing blocks and carved Victorian scraps became wings, evoking the feeling of a high note ready to take flight. Inside, the sculpture holds a compartment designed to stash musical ideas and lyrics, making it both a functional and artistic creation. Made from eco-friendly, up-cycled materials, Singer is an artist-made, hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind, three-dimensional work of sustainable art that beautifully demonstrates the potential of repurposed elements to inspire new forms of creativity.
